Property Taxes

This article provides an overview of the property taxes page, including where to find it, how to add taxes, viewing options, and payment tracking. 

1. Overview

The Property Taxes module helps you track annual property tax assessments, payment deadlines, and related documents. This ensures you stay on top of tax obligations, avoid penalties, and maintain a centralized view of all historic and upcoming tax activity.

2. Accessing the Module

To access the Property Taxes module:

  • Go to Property Taxes from the left sidebar navigation.
  • Or open a specific property and navigate to the Property Taxes tab.

3. Main Dashboard

Viewing Your Tax Records

The dashboard displays a list of all property tax records. For each record, you will see:

  • Property: The associated property
  • Tax Year: Year the tax is assessed for
  • Amount: Total property tax due
  • Due Date: Deadline for tax payment
  • Status: Payment status (Paid, Due Soon, Overdue)

Actions

Each tax record supports:

  • View Details – Open the full record
  • Edit – Update amount, due date, or notes
  • Delete – Remove the record (with confirmation)
  • Upload Documents – Add tax bills, receipts, or appeals

Filtering and Search

Use filters at the top of the dashboard to narrow your view:

  • Property: Filter by specific property
  • Tax Year: Filter by year of assessment
  • Status: View Paid, Due Soon, or Overdue records
  • Amount Range: Filter by minimum and maximum tax values

Tips:

  • Use full or partial year values to match tax years
  • Combine filters for complex queries
  • Use the reset button to clear all filters

4. Adding Property Tax Records

Manual Entry

To add a tax record manually:

  1. Click Add Tax Record
  2. Complete the form:
    • Property: Select from your property list
    • Tax Year: Year the tax applies to
    • Amount: Total assessed property tax
    • Due Date: Deadline for payment
  3. (Optional) Add notes or upload related documents
  4. Click Add to save

Required Fields

  • Property
  • Tax year
  • Amount (must be greater than $0)
  • Due date

5. Tax Detail View

Each tax record has its own detail page.

Key Information

  • Property and tax year
  • Tax amount and due date
  • Payment status (automatically updated)
  • Notes or custom fields (if applicable)

Inline Editing

  • Click any editable field to update the record
  • Changes are saved automatically with validation

Document Panel

  • Upload or view tax-related files
  • Typical documents include tax bills, payment confirmations, or appeal filings
  • Supported formats: PDF, DOC, JPG, PNG

6. Payment Status Tracking

The module automatically calculates tax status based on the due date:

  • Paid: Marked as paid manually
  • Due Soon: Payment due within 7 days
  • Overdue: Payment due date has passed

Marking as Paid

  • Open the tax detail page
  • Click Mark as Paid to update the status
  • Optionally, enter the payment date or attach confirmation

7. Troubleshooting

Tax Record Won’t Save

  • Ensure all required fields are filled
  • Verify tax amount is greater than zero
  • Confirm the due date is valid
  • Make sure a property is selected

Upload Problems

  • Ensure file is under 20MB
  • Supported formats: PDF, Word documents, and images
  • Try uploading one file at a time if issues persist

Status Not Updating

  • Check the due date relative to today’s date
  • Refresh the page after saving changes
  • If marked as paid, ensure payment date is recorded

Record Not Visible

  • Double-check filters and clear if needed
  • Confirm the record is linked to the correct property
  • Use search fields for tax year or amount
